Google Person Finder by Google for Boston disasterGoogle has taken the initiative with respect to a humanitarian cause like the one that happened in Boston.  It is a software tool to help find friends and relatives through search engines.  Google has set up “Google Person Finder” for Boston which gives access to two buttons, I’m looking for someone or I have information about someone.  Nearly 3,300 people are utilizing the tool for finding their inmates.  The tool is an application of the web that allows the user to know the status of disaster victims.  As part of ‘Google.org Project’ the software provides information for shelters, injured victims, condition of roads and power availability.  The person’s profile along with photograph is stored as index in Google Person Finder. Google Map Maker ToolGoogle has made the map services more elaborate and clear for the people to travel.  The new “Map Maker Tool” allows the user to search the path taking in depth information such as buildings, rivers, railways, hotels and much more.  The information as added by the user will be reviewed and accepted by the staff of Google and other users.  The contribution made by one user will be as such approved and with necessary amendments made, the map will appear in Google Maps, Mobile map apps and Google Earth.  Continue reading

Twitter launches popular music page for twitter users

Twitter launches popular music pageThe online social media network, Twitter has announced the launch of new music application, Trending Music App, for its users.   Latest music would be available for the users on “sign in” button being pressed on music.twitter.com. The service of music feature will provide music alerts about the latest music and the ones their friends are listening to. The application is still not complete and the page does not go anywhere at the moment. This App has been made possible after Twitter took over a music aggregation website, “We Are Hunted” which was scanning social networks and music blogs for creating a list of 99 songs which are popular online. At least, Google has made an attempt to resolve the issue to a certain degree. Google has launched a service called the ‘inactive account manager’. This is being termed as a “digital will” and people are being asked about the documents stored in the email along with photographs and other virtual items after the email account holder dies or is not capable of using the account for whatever reason. Inactive Account Manager by GoogleGoogle has launched a digital self-control application to handle the data, emails, chats, YouTube, Drives, photos and networks after the person’s death.  All this information can be transferred or deleted upon a stipulated period of time.  Google has made this process easier by introducing “Inactive Account Manager”, where a person dear to him/her can express Google to transfer data concerned for the person into their personal account or delete completely or partially.  This can be done by leaving a message on the account home page.  Upon this, Google enables the option of sharing information with near and dear or have the account deleted.
