Tips: How to send and receive faxes from a computer without using fax machines

As the days go by, the technology is becoming unbeatable. One of the proofs is the default feature of Windows “Windows Fax and Scan”. It is able to turn your computer into a fax machine and it’s big money and time saver. If you’re going to setup the fax with your computer, it should be properly equipped.
If you’re ready to send and receive faxes at your home, it is required to outfit the computer with a fax modem. The fax modem is not at all an expensive hardware that lets you communicate with a fax machine over a standard phone line. You can get it from any of your local or favourite hardware retailers as internal or external. If you’ve the internal fax modem, it will be directly plugged into your computer’s motherboard similar to the way a video or a sound card is plugged in. If you wish to go with the external fax modems, you can use with the serial or the USB ports of the computer.
If you’re at work, another option is to see if your employer has a fax server—a dedicated computer equipped with multiple fax modems. Sending a fax using a fax server doesn’t require you to add any special hardware to your PC. You just set up a connection with the fax server and go.
Now, let’s discuss about setting your computer up as a fax machine.
First, check if you’ve properly installed the fax modem and that is plugged into a standard analog phone line.
1.    First, click on the start button, select “All Programs” and then select “Windows Fax and Scan”. You can also get this option by just typing FAX in the search box.
